British, born 1946, is the company's chief geologist and has been involved with the Parys Mountain project since 1994. He has over 30 years experience in exploration and mining in Africa, North and Central America, Europe and South East Asia.
He gained an honours degree in geology from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne in 1967. He has been chief geologist at underground copper mines in British Columbia, Canada and an open pit copper mine in Ireland and has worked underground in the Witswatersrand gold mines in South Africa. He has managed exploration programmes around the world for a variety of commodities including copper, zinc, nickel and gold and was an associate with DMBW, a senior consulting group based in Toronto Canada, for a number of years.
Canadian, is the consultant responsible for the stratigraphic and lithogeochemical programme. He has extensive experience in the study of volcanogenic massive sulphide deposits generally and the application of geochemical techniques to this task specifically. In particular he has studied and published papers on major deposits at Myra Falls, Eskay Creek and at the Noranda camp in Quebec.
Dr Barrett gained a masters degree in geology from the University of Toronto in 1974 and a D.Phil. from Oxford in 1979. He has carried out academic research at universities in Germany, Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver. He has been editor of the journal Exploration and Mining Geology and has published a number of academic papers himself and in conjunction with others.
British, has a first class honours degree in applied geology from Oxford Brookes University and a Ph.D. in Geology from Cardiff University, for which he was sponsored by the company. The subject of his Ph.D. was the chemostratigraphic study of volcanic host rocks at Parys Mountain. He has made very significant improvements to the understanding of many aspects of Parys Mountain geology and is a valuable contributor to the company's efforts.
